Miuccia Prada is responsable to bring back the decade’s most polarizing trend at her Resort 2019 show: skunky, chunky, heinously chic highlights.
From American runway rebel Binx Walton to Korean star Sora Choi, the majority of models in the lineup received the colored extensions, scattered haphazardly, with dark brown streaks woven through blonde hair, and white platinum ones through brunette lengths.
While the two-toned hair, teamed with artfully smudged liner, served as a subversive twist, the messy, deep side-parting and lived-in texture was right in keeping with the house’s jolie laide DNA.
Much like the collection itself, which deftly married smart, geometric-print suiting with clashing trapper hats, the beauty was a lesson in grunge-era cool and subversive sophistication—right down to the nail art.
Manicures featured contrasting striped tips painted in burgundy, hunter green, flaxen, and beige varnishes and accented with the Italian fashion house’s iconic logo. And while fans may have to wait for the clothes to hit stores next fall, come tomorrow, they’re sure to be painting their fingertips Prada.
