The latest designer to join the list of luxury labels pledging to make the change is Prada, who have just announced their commitment to join other fashion houses in their efforts to go fur-free.
The Italian fashion label has partnered with the Fur Free Association, a coalition of more than 50 animal protection organisations, and will begin to phase out fur in the S/S 2020 collections from the main brand and all of its sister labels, including Miu Miu, Church’s and Car Shoe.
The anti-fur movement is fully gaining force in the fashion world, with Burberry, Gucci, Coach and Michael Kors having recently reviewed their policy on using animal products in their collections. Prada came under the spotlight last year when the Humane Society reported that the brand were selling jackets made from fox fur and mink fur, leading to a growing campaign for the fashion house to adopt a fur-free approach in line with modern consumers’ attitudes.
